ABOUT US
Our company focuses on the Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) program as an approach to human resource development that aligns with safety requirements, operational standards, and regulations in the aviation industry. This approach not only emphasizes understanding theory but also ensures that each personnel can demonstrate measurable and accountable competencies in performing their duties, as well as contribute to building resilient resources across all sectors of the company. Through this project, we will review the principles, benefits, and implementation of CBTA in supporting the enhancement of operational quality and company safety.
PROBLEM
ISSUES OF COMPETENCY AND PERFORMANCE GAPS
Employees complete time-based training, but are still unable to handle real situations (for example, a pilot can fly normally, but is not well prepared to handle emergency situations).
INEFFICIENCY IN TRAINING COSTS AND TIME
Traditional training with a fixed duration can lead to 'over-training' for fast learners, or 'under- training' for those who need more time.
VARIATIONS IN HUMAN RESOURCE (HR) QUALITY
Differences in the quality of graduates from various schools or training batches.
Empowering Aviation Professional with Measurable Competencies
LACK OF FOCUS ON NON-TECHNICAL SKILLS (NTS)
The incident did not occur due to technical incompetence, but because of failures in communication, teamwork, leadership, or decision-making (for example, in cases of accidents caused by human error).
UNPREPAREDNESS IN FACING TECHNOLOGICAL
DEVELOPMENTS
The transition to a new generation of aircraft (for example, from analog to digital/glass cockpit) requires a slow training adaptation.
PROBLEM
LOW KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL RETENTION
After training, knowledge/skills decline because they are not used or effectively refreshed.
ISSUES IN THE CERTIFICATION AND RE- CERTIFICATION PROCESS
The certification process is solely based on written exams or isolated exercises, and does not reflect integrative capabilities in real operational environments..
WEAK SAFETY CULTURE
Personnel see safety procedures as a formality, not as a core competency.
Empowering Aviation Professional with Measurable Competencies
MISALIGNMENT OF TRAINING WITH OPERATIONAL NEEDS
The training does not anticipate specific operational problems faced by the company (for example, certain routes with extreme weather conditions).
POORLY MANAGED PERFORMANCE DATA
There is no system to track employee competency development longitudinally.
SOLUTION
CLOSE THE GAP
Implementation of CBTA in Various Functions of Airlines
TARGET AUDIENCE
Pilots, cabin crew, aircraft technicians, safety officers, ground handling staff, supervisors, and managers involved in the aviation industry
BENEFIT
CBTA is a systematic solution to address issues of *human resource quality, training efficiency, and consistency of safety standards* in the aviation industry. By focusing on *evidence of competence* rather than merely attendance or training duration, CBTA helps companies reduce human error, improve safety performance, and optimize investment in human resource development.
